Quick Sketch on the Plane
I was on a family vacation and did not feel like sketching but somehow before landing, I just did one quick sketch on my A5 muji notebook with my Signo Uni-ball gel pen I brought along.

food court at Punggol

Last Sunday, I was hungry so I stopped at this place in Punggol for a quick bite before attending the first-month baby party for my new grand niece at the Punggol flat. The weather was so hot but the foreign workers were resting comfortably under the highway / viaduct just outside this food court.

Collage of sketches for April to May 2014

I have not done the collage for a long time. This collage format is good for record so I know what are the sketches in that particular sketchbook.

five-minute quick sketch

Today I was having lunch with a design student who wanted to have a consultation with me on his current project. When he was having his lunch, I did this sketch to show him how I pick up lines, shapes and textures for a quick sketch. We spent almost 2 hours to discuss about his project. We both enjoyed the session very much and I think he learnt a lot from the discussion.

KOPI at Singapore General Hospital

I visit Singapore General Hospital (SGH) quite often these days as my mom is undergoing daily treatment since early May. Doctor is very surprised and tells us my mom is a very stoic and optimistic lady. I often take my lunch at this KOPI eatery located near the hospital entrance while my dad and the family helper are attending to my mom at the treatment clinic. The hospital is always crowded so to find a seat for lunch and sketch is a luxury.

I was speaking at National Design Centre

I was speaking at the National Design Centre last Saturday and the topic was "Dialogue: Can Creativity be Taught?". It was a fun-filled event with presentation, interaction and sketching!
I did this sketch from the speaker's view. Richard Koff was taking the video and he was sketched twice here since he moved from left to the centre.

elderly at the polyclinic

It was so crowded on a Saturday morning at Polyclinic. I needed my cholesterol pills so I had to go to see the doctor. So many old ladies on the wheelchairs and most of the seats were reserved for the elderly.

Last night we had a great time at P.Bistro. Dinner was good, coffee and cakes were wonderful. A very satisfying meal with great company.

Drink and Draw our Kopitiam Style

Drink and Draw our local Kopitiam style. It is more like La beer session though. Thanks Milo Sudaria for the meal too. Sell more paintings so we can do this again. HA!

at the polyclinic

This morning at the super crowded Polyclinic for a regular blood test. Our public health care is affordable but they really need to solve the overcrowding problem. I am sure they are people who avoid seeing the doctor even when they are ver...y sick knowing it is time consuming and troublesome. I was also worried for the young families with newborn babies at the public clinic where the visibly sick adults not wearing masks at all.
I am sure the public clinics can be improved in its circulation and physical design layout for different patients.

mee pok breakfast

One of my favourite coffee shops for mee pok (noodle) at Marine Parade. These retirees were talking about health care, again?

at a meeting

I do not blog about my work but I am happy to share a sketch at work. This is just one of the meetings I attended. Got to be quick so it would not be noticed by others.

old friends gathering
This group of senior ladies probably had not met each other for a long time. They were understandably loud and emotional with all the hugs and kisses. They looked like a group of retired teachers from a convent school and decided to meet up for the new year.
