Sketching People

I started a new Nude square sketchbook trying to do one sketch per day.

On a Friday evening, before the show at Marina Bay Sands Theatre for "All Wishes Come True! 八仙" which is a hit 2026 computer-animated comedy film from Pearl Studio that reimagines the traditional Chinese legend of the Eight Immortals, we had dinner at the very busy Rasapura at MBS's basement level. Even at around 5pm, every empty table was filled up immediately when the diners left. The two ladies in uniforms with the chef-looking hats caught my eyes and they were sitting at the table talking to a lady in suit presumbly their supervisor for a short period of time. People continued to stream in after they left their table and some were seen standing beside me making me very uncomfortable. I had to sketch very fast in 15 mins, keep my sketchbook, buy my food and eat slowly. Crazy!

New Towers at former Liang Court

Work in progress!

Here is one new work started this week with the very nice long knife-nib fountain pen gifted by Andrew Tan. The ever changing skyline includes the new towers at former Liang Court and former Arcade. We have become tourists in our own backyard.

Happy Holidays!

I am determined to sketch from Marina Bay Sands to complete another Etchr Accordion Sketchbook which started with Amerigo Vespucci on 26 Oct 2024 for the first 6 pages of the sketchbook. This sketch was completed on 20 Dec 2024 over 9 pages with the last page filled with stickers etc.

The video on the entire sketchbook is here https://www.facebook.com/reel/964061462235300

Long Sketch

Probably the last long sketch of the year from Marina Bay Sands. Merlion is having a face-lift!

Checking out from Marine Bay Sands

Here is the collection of artwork done on loose watercolour papers at MBS whenever I have the family staycation during the pandemic. About ten of them thus far, may be a few more at home. Lost count.

Size: various around 750 x 285mm

Smaller Watercolour Pieces

I sketched the skyline of Marina Bay many times and posted the same one here. I found the other one done on the same day on 22 March 2020 during the pandemic and posted these two together, one with ink one without ink. Same view different mood.

Watercolours in Pocket Moleskine

I usually did quick line sketches and this is one of the few with colours in the pocket Moleskine sketchbook which is not suitable for watercolours. So I had to do it real quick. It looks better when it is flat and dried after a few months since Feb this year.

The tourists are returning

Tourists are returning to Singapore. You hear them speaking foreign language at the next table at meal time. You see them with their hand luggage. You observe they are all wearing hats, sunglasses and scraves. This is a family from Indonesia.

Another meal

This is just before the Circuit Breaker

Quick sketch at Dinner

Think this is the first and only time we had breakfast at Rise and just before Circuit Breaker.

Brush Pen and Watercolours

When I was at 47th floor at Marina Bay Sands, I could see Elgin Bridge over Singapore River and Clarke Quay very clearly.

Happy Birthday Singapore!

Result of July Sketchwalk

I focus on part of a long painting for the July Sketchwalk in the comfort of a hotel room facing the beautiful city skyline on a Saturday morning. The theme is Home, truely!

Paper: Arches
Size: 750 x 280 mm

Sketch or Painting?

Finally completed the sketch at Tower 3 Marina Bay Sands #3606. We paid extra for the city view and it was worth it. This was one of the latest sketches as you can tell from the missing "twin towers" aka Liang Court, Novetel Hotel next to Clarke Quay or behind the Victoria Theather in the middle of this sketch.
