Fullerton Heritage Waterfront

No ink or pen outline, just watercolour washes. Also sketched this from memory, no photo reference. Only a few buildings are accurate, the rest just impression. After the sketch, it is also a joint piece with another sketch done in Feb 2018 that form a panoramic waterfront.

Skyline

160402_skyline

Skyline of Singapore from Fullerton Waterboat House. Looking down, there were too many tourists near Merlion Park on the right, but up where we were, it was cool and quiet with a sip of Mocha and sketching with good friends. I took so long to scan and join long format. This was done this morning at the cafe. It was too hot out there at 32 deg C.

At Merlion Park

110716_GoldenHour

Last Saturday when there was a National Day Parade rehearsal, late at night we were lucky to witness the short fireworks for about 10 minutes and it was really spectacular!

Before that, I did this sketch at golden hour around 6pm before the sky turned dark. The towers changed colours! It was bright golden orchre only on the left tower and it changed to red and very soon the three towers were filled with red, purple, gold, just stunning!

The facades of the three towers of Marina Bay Sands Hotel seen here were like three big mirrors reflecting the fireworks. It was breathtaking when you look at the changes at these three big mirrors.

This sketch was done at that fireworks moment with good company and drinks at the Overeasy, One Fullerton directly opposite MBS.

A sketch and drink session indeed.

"will you marry me?"

110716_Overeasy

My first ever sketch and drink session with fellow Urbansketchers at Overeasy, One Fullerton, opposite Marina Bay Sands Hotel on a Saturday night.

We watched the fireworks as part of the rehearsal of our National Day Parade which is on 9 Aug. - We also witnessed a moving drama when a young man proposed to his girlfriend "will you marry me?". Of course the young lady accepted him and we applauded with all the fireworks in background. She was in tears when I congratulated her. Just lovely!

Back View of Merlion

110716_MerlionPk

On a Saturday, at about 4pm, the Merlion Park was crowded. I had no intention to sketch when I arrived but could not help after seeing other sketchers hard at work sketching away. My hands were 'itchy'. So I did this sketch after having my very late lunch at the Coffee Bean next to the Merlion Park.

This could be my first sketch on the Merlion at this close distance albeit it was the back view.
