November Sketchwalk but I am going to miss it!

For this month's sketchwalk, we will be sketching inside Chinese Gardens. Entrance is free.

Alight at Chinese Gardens MRT Station but don't wait there. Walk into the gardens.
At 9AM, we will meet at the first high-rise Pagoda you see when you enter. (see map).
We will have a short briefing and then you are free to explore and sketch Chinese Gardens.
At 12PM sharp, please be back at the same high-rise Pagoda (I believe it is the one in the poster) where we will view everyone's drawings, and take photos etc.

If it rains, well, we will be hiding inside the Pagoda till it stops!

National Museum of Singapore

I was too ambitious to plan to complete the long and large Moleskine Japanese Album sketchbook. However, I enjoyed the company of sketcher friends and students from SUTD not to mention the food, drink and the chats while sketching at Food for Thought, the restaurant inside the Museum.

Chinatown

Started with just a few lines for the teach and sketch session on a typical shophouse facade with SUTD students for a make-up class on a Saturday morning at Chinatown. The second sketch had more details and took a longer time just before lunch.

Anniversary Lunch at Sky 57

140911_skyline
I finally scan and stitch this piece together. This was done at our anniversary lunch from a restaurant at 57th storey of Marina Bay Sands called "Sky 57". The public can still go up to the Sky Park - the observatory deck of Marina Bay Sands and sketch while standing. No sitting is allowed. The entry fee to the Sky Park is S$23 per person. This sketch was drawn on Moleskine Japanese Album across 9 pages. The size of each page is 9x14cm or 3.5x 5.5" per page.

in the mood to create

141104_TP

I am so blessed! On my birthday, I suddenly had this urge to do something different, so I took a walk within the campus after a meeting. Here's my new hair-do and a new pair of glasses combing my old and new offices - School of Design and Glocal Connect Village, both in Temasek Poly. Met familiar faces along the way when I visited a few corners familiar to me - the new design block, the mural wall, western food stall, print shop, lift lobby, sculpture and the colourful GCV in that order in this visual.

For the record, I used iPhone camera and PowerPoint on my office PC to recreate the visual in 30 mins. I am quite pleased with the final result. Happy Birthday to me!

Temasek Polytechnic

Temasek Polytechnic - the institution I work for over 23 years. Next year we are celebrating 25th anniversary so I am asked to do a piece to roll out a series of activities. I gathered a very small group of sketchers from staff, alumni and students' team and I did a sketch on top of the building.

The architect was James Stirling and Wilford. Although Jame Stirling died before the job was completed, the design won an international architectural award in his company's name. The entire campus did bear his signature to have a very geometrical site layout with the main walkway bridge framing the view of the beautiful Bedok Reservouir.
