Bali Connection

It was a very different vacation whereby we followed my elder son's family staying in the Villa most of the time, dinning in with all the options, BBQ, Balinese night, floating breakfast, privagt beach, swimming, eating, watiching TV, reading and doodling. I was hoping to see the Bali I had not seen for so many years may be with a cultural night, day trip to Ubud etc etc.

So when we two older folks took the villa transport to a local shopping mall, the driver brought us to Bali Connection which was obviously meant for tourists! I made do and did a sketch of the temple inside the mall under the big tree although the weather was really hot and humid.

Bali Sketches

I am on family vacation so can only do sketches within the hotel vicinity. It was a scotching hot day and the staff was very helpful to check on me once a while. Anyway I was the only one at the public pool since every villas had its own private pool to chill.

Mount Fuji

From Hokkiado to Tokyo, I saw snow, then Mount Fuji from the plane on 24 Dec 2022 in different directions inbound and outbound from New Chitose Airport to Hadena Airport and from Hadena Airport to Singapore. Bye bye Japan.

This year, we travelled to Japan from 17 - 24 Dec for a family skiing trip. I didn't ski so I sketched the view from our AYA Niseko Villa at Niseko Hirafu. Outdoor temperature was around -3 degC but inside the 3-storey villa it was very comfortable.

Niseko is best known for receiving the world's best powder snow throughout winter, and as a relaxed outdoor lifestyle destination during the summer months. Niseko is located on Japan's northern island prefecture of Hokkaido, about 3 hours drive away from New Chitose Airport.

There are four skiig resorts in Niseko namely:

Niseko Tokyu Grand HIRAFU
Niseko Village Ski Resort and
Niseko Annupuri International Ski Area

Poolside Sketch

I sketched Steffi, my younger granddaughter as she posed for me at the poolside. I had to add Nicole, my elder granddaughter next to Steffi later when she was looking for herself in the sketch. My younger son was making the 'V' sign on the yellow float and the princesses were telling stories pointing at the young uncle. So fun.

Vacation Trip to Vietnam

It's a family vacation in Lang Co, Vietnam. We spent real quality time with my two granddaughters aged 5 and 3 who are staying in Hong Kong. We spent 7 days together from 4 to 11 Aug in Lang Co, Hoi An, Da Nang and Hue. We are building family memories together and some are collected in this long Seawhite Concertina Sketchbook.
