Katong 112

131020_FoodRepublic
I like to sketch when I am having meals. The food courts in Singapore are always crowded and they are the best place to sketch people and having fun to break down complex scenes into simple shapes. Here is a sketch at Katong 112 again.

Oct Sketchwalk

The sketchwalk location with the highest votes this month is Labrador Park. We will meet at 930AM outside the park exit of Labrador Park MRT station (See location HERE). Tia will be the organiser this time, so look out for her or a large number of sketchers there. If we are not there, head into the park to find us.

At 930AM sharp, we will walk into Labrador park and you can spread out wherever you like. Explore the different parts of the park. There is also the broadwalk (see map, outlined in pink) that will lead you to keppel bay where you can draw sailboats. If it rains, there are shelters around the park.

At 12.30PM sharp, please be at the show+tell point (see marked spot on map) where we will gather, look at the sketches for the day and take pictures. From there you are free to go for lunch. You could walk along the broadwalk to Vivo City or to ARC (mainly fastfood) near Labrador MRT station.

Don't miss out the Giveaway Contest for the Labrador Park Sketchwalk sponsored by Parka.

Japanese Restaurant

131014_Yamamoto
UntitledWe wanted to have a new experience so having lunch at Hide Yamamot was not a bad idea. The Japanese restaurant was named after its celebrity chef and owner who is Japanese born but Italian and French trained. The restaurant at Marina Bay Sands is his fifth restaurant to date but the first and only one in Singapore. We sat at the room with this beautiful Japanese lady chef working on the state of the art 'smokeless' charcoal grills. It was a visual feast to watch her handling the chicken, fish and lamb while having our meal prepared by her too.

Beanstro

131013_Beanstro
UntitledTuesday was the public holiday here so I took a day off from office on Monday to have a 'staycation' at Marina Bay Sands Hotel with family members. We checked into the hotel on Sunday but the room was not ready at 3pm. So we went to shop and had tea at Beanstro where I did a quick sketch.

IMG_2489Kwin with the hat as seen in my sketch and Namchai in green t-shirt in the photo, both from Bangkok joined us for this sketchwalk at Dhorby Ghaut orgainsed in conjunction with Archifest 2013 last Saturday. The pavilion this year was like a make shift construction site assembled by metal scaffolds with plywood timber flooring. The pavilion was really hot and humid at 1pm when we had our show and tell session in the green house effect.

result of Sep sketchwalk

I find adding dot, lines and shapes a very therapeutic process compared to colouring on a Saturday afternoon. This is the old railway station at Bukit Timah. The railway track is gone but the bridge, the station building and station master's house are still there.
