100% made in Singapore. We have the capability. Now everybody knows about it, this is my contribution. it's a huge mural panel at Basement 2, Centrepoint Mall. First of its kind in material and size because it is direct digital print on aluminium panels. No, I did not paint this on site. You can see it once you enter the mall from the MRT station via 313@Sommerset. I will need time to do the documentation on processes later.
Other artists who are involved in this are: Francis Theo, Ignatius Yeo and Tony Chua, all members of Urban Sketchers Singapore but this is not an Urban Sketchers project, it all started from a story line like this: Once upon a time, TIA met up with her old schoolmate from School of Architecture at Temesek Poly.......

My first Inktober
This is the first time that I take part in Inktober. I have so many different types of sketchbooks, pens and colours that I bought or gifted laying pretty on my bookshelves, I need to either give away or do something about it. It was last Saturday on 1 Oct that I took out the A6 size sketchbook I got from Royal College of Art in 2004 and doodled on it with a grey brush pen. I used to doodle underwater sea creatures during those office meetings in the day, all imaginative and nonsensical based on a grid. Let's do this again and see how far it takes.

Manchester Symposium

Just came back to the office after a fantastic 7th International Urban Sketchers Symposium held in Manchester from 27 to 30 July 2016. Will be posting my sketches soon. Here are two group photos taken on the last day on 30 July at All Sanits Park just outside the Symposium venue, Manchester School of Art. Sadly I was not in the photo because I was still sketching on the 7th storey of the building capturing the skyline of Manchester.

Cafe people sketch
I was on official duty last Saturday and yesterday evening. So I took a few hours time-off this morning to enjoy my brunch at my favourite cafe - Penny University at East Coast Road. I was facing this loving young couple with a new born baby and got an urge to sketch the people. Sketching really calmed my nerves and at that moment I really wished I could stay a little longer. Too bad I had to leave for work and left before the lunch crowd walked in. Oh yes, sketching helps us pick up details - the ladies including the waitresses were all having ponytail hair except one even if they come and gone.

LEGO-Themed Family Day at our Campus
I missed the monthly sketchwalk at Serangoon Garden because I had to be on campus for our next activity in conjunction with the LEGO exhibition. It was a fun-filled Saturday after discovering so many young budding LEGO artists. The LEGO character look-alike imitation contest was really fun with family coming together and created the characters such as Mermaid, Bandit, Wizard and Sailor. It was fun fun fun!

Sketch at the same spot again at Tiong Bahru

The top is the completed work and the next one was taken just before I apply colouring on location. I led a group of my colleagues and their families to Tiong Bahru and sketch. The ad-hoc sketchwalk was conducted in conjunction with the LEGO exhibition at the campus. Sum Kwan, the 5-year-old boy really impressed me with his drawing. He could identify shapes on the spot and drew with very confident lines. Paul's son who is nine, is also good and bold in his line work. I had so much to observe and learn from these children. The lease we can do is to encourage them to do more so they will continue to sketch, draw, paint and enjoy the process of mark making.

The Brick Collective - Tiong Bahru Edition

Everyone is talking about it, you have to see it at the gallery where I work. "The Brick Collective: Tiong Bahru Edition" a LEGO exhibition is at the Art Gallery@GCV, Glocal Connect Village at Temasek Polytechnic, come and be inspired. Three of them are Design graduates from different cohorts and I have the privilege of teaching two of them, Eugene Tan from Interior Architecture and Design graduated in 1995 and Andy Goh from Product and Industrial Design graduated in 2014. Wong Jun Heng, from Interactive Media Design graduated much later. LEGO brought them together. I am so proud of our TP returning talents.
